Another Place, Anthony Gormley, Crosby Beach
Taken at sunset on the famous Crosby beach. There are several of Anthony Gormley’s statues scattered across the sands – all of them facing to the sea.
This is a perfect location for sunset photography as the beach faces west and when there’s a low tide you find amazing reflections in the pools. This photograph is straight from the lens using a Cokin Read filter to add fire to the sky.
I wanted to create three levels of contrast between the black figure, the fire red skyline and the burnt orange sun. This combination of the elements gives this scene a new and almost surreal ‘dali’ style emotion.
